About Me

I have specialized knowledge in adoption, infertility, attachment, parenting children with special needs, caregiving aging parents, ADHD, grief and loss, anxiety and depression, stress and anger management, complex trauma, and relationships. I honour each client’s unique individuality and aspirations.

I worked for many years as an adoption social worker, and expanded my expertise to become a psychologist in recent years. I have great appreciation for the impact of larger systems on individual people, but I am most rewarded in my private counselling practice where I can work with people at an intimate, personal level.

My personal life and work experiences have formulated my beliefs as a psychologist. This includes believing that all people can overcome challenges and solve their problems when they feel supported, validated, and cared for, and are given a safe space to process their thoughts and feelings.

I want you to find your authentic self.
Let me walk alongside you as you discover and nourish your own vital soul.

My Counselling Approach
I consider myself to be a humanistic therapist in that I believe that people have both the desire and the ability to reach their full potential. This can happen when people feel heard and validated, and have the chance to process their thoughts, experiences, and emotions. I take a process-based, experiential approach to counselling, where you will have the space to talk freely and work through your concerns, and then try new ways of being and doing. I believe this leads to an increased feeling of self-worth. This emotion-focused therapy approach is scientifically supported, and essentially uses emotion to change emotion. Attachment theory is the science behind this approach. Attachment theorists believe that relationships with significant others impact how we feel about ourselves and how we interact in the world. A supportive, well-attuned counselling relationship mimics a secure attachment relationship and can help you resolve conflicts and improve your life. Although this approach is well-suited to most people and problems, there are times when I integrate thought-based strategies and techniques. These include Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, which include very practical activities and support.
